The important of woods tiles can't be understated. Even on non fog maps, vehicles go over them at half rate (possibly creating choke points) and any unit stationed on them will have a 20% defense increase, crucial for increasing the survivability of important units. On fog of war maps, any unit stationed in a forest will be hidden unless there is a unit directly next to them, even if they would normally be in their opponents vision range.
